Assistant Professorship International Economics
Welcome to the website of Konstantin M. Wacker
I am an assistant professor for international economics at University of Mainz (since 2015). My research focuses on the empirical analysis of globalization (especially FDI and capital flows, upgrading and diversification of exports) and development (growth and poverty). I received a PhD in economics and applied statistics from the University of Göttingen (2012) and also studied in Vienna, Alicante, and Beijing. Besides from academic work, I gained comprehensive policy experience working as an economist for the macro department of the World Bank (2013-2015), at an Austrian government agency (2005-2009) and at short-term assignments at the European Central Bank (2012/13) and the International Monetary Fund (2011).
I am teaching courses on the BA, MA, and PhD level.
